TraderSync Alternative: A Prop Firm Journal That Doesn't Gate the Features You Actually Need

Last updated July 2026 5 min read

TraderSync used to have a free plan. It doesn't anymore. What you get now is a 7-day trial (no card required, which is nice), and then you're choosing between $29.95, $49.95, or $79.95 a month. The AI coaching that most people are actually shopping for doesn't unlock until the $49.95 Premium tier. The full feature set, including the Cypher Coach and advanced market tools, sits at $79.95.

If you're a prop firm trader running evaluations, paying $960 a year for the top tier of a trading journal is a hard number to justify, especially when the thing you're actually trying to fix is a behavioral pattern you can't see yet.

Pricing Side by Side

The Trading Terminal TraderSync
Free plan Yes. Full journal, dashboard, 90-day analytics. No card No (discontinued)
Free trial Not needed 7 days, no card required
Entry tier $19/mo AUD $29.95/mo USD (Pro)
Mid tier $29/mo AUD $49.95/mo USD (Premium)
Top tier n/a $79.95/mo USD (Elite)
Annual billing ~2 months free First year ~45% off, renews higher

A note on TraderSync's annual pricing: the first year is heavily discounted ($179.64 for Pro, $269.64 for Premium, $383.76 for Elite). That's aggressive and genuinely good value. But renewal pricing is higher, and the discount creates an anchoring effect where the "real" monthly cost feels lower than it actually will be from year two onward.

Where TraderSync Is Genuinely Strong

Broker coverage is unmatched. TraderSync connects to over 240 brokers through API sync, direct connection, or CSV import. If you trade through a less common platform, TraderSync probably supports it. This matters.

Market replay goes deep. At Premium, replay runs at one-second intervals. At Elite, it adds Level II data and time-and-sales. If reconstructing the exact moment-by-moment flow of a session is how you learn, TraderSync gives you the highest fidelity available.

Cypher AI (Premium and up) is conversational. You can ask it questions about your own data. "When do I perform worst?" "What's my win rate on trades after a loss?" It responds with analysis pulled from your history.

The 7-day trial is genuinely no-strings. No card required. You get full access to whatever tier you choose. This is better than most competitors offer.

Where the Tier Gating Becomes a Problem

TraderSync's analytics reports ship on every tier, and that's worth acknowledging. The Pro plan at $29.95 gives you the same charts and breakdowns as the $79.95 Elite plan. But the features that actually change behavior are tiered.

Cypher AI (the conversational analysis) requires Premium at $49.95/month. The Strategy Checker that tracks rule adherence over time is also Premium. The full Cypher Coach with proactive behavioral coaching sits at Elite, $79.95/month.

So if you came to TraderSync because you want AI to help you understand why you keep losing, the entry plan won't do that. You need to jump two tiers.

The Trading Terminal handles this differently. Mistake Cost Analysis and Emotion vs P&L analytics — arguably the two most behavior-changing features in any journal — are on the Pro tier at $19/month AUD. Risk Desk is Elite at $29/month AUD. There's no $80/month tier.

The Prop Firm Problem That General Journals Miss

TraderSync was built as a journal for active traders across stocks, options, futures, forex, and crypto. It does that well. But a general-purpose tool optimizes for breadth, not for the specific failure mode that blows up evaluation accounts.

About 70% of prop firm challenge failures come from hitting loss limits, not from missing profit targets. The trader's strategy was fine. Their risk management on paper was fine. What failed was the in-session decision-making: taking one more trade after hitting a soft limit, increasing size after giving back profit, trading through a news event they'd planned to avoid. Read more about why prop firm challenges fail.

TraderSync can show you those patterns after the fact, if you dig through the reports. What it can't do is tell you, mid-session, that you've consumed 73% of your daily risk budget and you should consider stopping.

Risk Desk does exactly that. You input your firm's daily loss limit, trailing drawdown, and max drawdown. The system tracks your live consumption against those numbers and flags thresholds at 70% and 90%.

What The Trading Terminal Does That TraderSync Doesn't

Mistake Cost Analysis. Every mistake tag you log gets ranked by dollar cost, worst first. "Revenge trading cost you $2,840 this month." "Moving your stop loss cost you $1,640." It turns vague self-awareness into a ranked financial problem you can act on.

Risk Desk. Live daily risk budget tied to actual prop firm rules. Trailing drawdown monitoring. Consumption tracking with threshold alerts. No other major trading journal has this.

Broker Sync for cTrader (direct) and MT4/MT5 (Expert Advisor). cTrader connects in one click through Spotware OAuth — no laptop, no VPS, trades sync automatically from any device. MetaTrader users install a free Expert Advisor that streams closed trades in real time (requires the platform running). TraderSync's broker coverage is wider overall (240+ brokers), but for the cTrader / MT4 / MT5 stack that most forex and prop firm traders actually use, The Trading Terminal covers you.

A permanent free tier. Not a 7-day window. Full journal and dashboard access, 30 trades per month, 90 days of history. Enough to build a real journaling habit before deciding whether the paid analytics are worth it.

Who Should Pick Which

Pick TraderSync if you trade through a broker most journals don't support, you want the deepest replay fidelity available, you're willing to pay for Premium or Elite to get conversational AI coaching, and the first-year annual discount makes the price work for you.

Pick The Trading Terminal if you trade forex or futures through prop firm evaluations and need risk tracking built around those specific rules, you want your most expensive mistakes ranked by dollar cost without paying for a top-tier plan, and you'd rather use a real product for free before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I switch from TraderSync?

Yes. Export your trades from TraderSync as CSV and import them. The import system auto-detects broker format and deduplicates entries.

Is the 7-day TraderSync trial enough to decide?

Maybe. Seven days is enough to test the interface and broker sync. It's not enough to build a meaningful dataset for the analytics to work with. A permanent free tier with no expiry tends to give you a better read on whether a journal fits your workflow.

What about TraderSync's mobile app?

TraderSync has iOS and Android apps. The Trading Terminal is a responsive web app in mobile browsers. No native app yet. If a native mobile app is a hard requirement, TraderSync has the edge there.
