How traders use the economic calendar

Before the session

Check which high-impact events fall during your trading window. If NFP is at 8:30 AM and you trade New York session, you know to either wait for the release or be flat before it drops.

During the trade

If you're already in a position and a red-dot event is 20 minutes away, you can decide whether to close, tighten your stop, or hold through the volatility — instead of being caught off guard.

Post-trade review

When you review a loss and realise you entered 5 minutes before an FOMC statement, you learn the lesson. The calendar is always there next to your journal so the pattern becomes obvious.

FAQ

What is an economic calendar?
An economic calendar shows upcoming scheduled economic events — interest rate decisions, employment reports, CPI, GDP, PMI and more — that move forex, crypto and indices markets. Traders check it before entering a position so they aren't blindsided by a high-impact release.
Why do traders need an economic calendar?
High-impact events like Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP), FOMC rate decisions and CPI can move currencies 50–200 pips in seconds. Knowing the schedule lets you avoid entering right before a release, or plan to trade the reaction with proper risk management.
Is the economic calendar free?
Yes — the economic calendar inside The Trading Terminal is free on every plan, including the free tier. No card required. Sign up in 30 seconds and it's there.
Where does the calendar data come from?
The Trading Terminal's economic calendar is powered by Forex Factory, one of the most widely used event feeds in retail forex. Events are refreshed automatically so you always see the latest schedule.
Can I filter by currency or impact level?
Yes — filter by impact (High, Medium, Low, Holiday) and by individual currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, etc.). Your filter selection is saved so you don't have to re-set it each visit.
